Abstract

NGOs perform the traditional roleof delivery of services to the deprived and under- privileged sections of the society. Another major role of NGOs is the ‘watchdog’ role which is more fundamentalfor social development. These include prevention andmisuse of governmental authority and economicallypowerful interests in perpetuating social injustices andarresting the trends of inefficiency and non -accountabilityof public administration. The third major role of NGOs is Cooperating with government agencies or supplementingtheir efforts in the implementation of their programmes.The Seventh Five Year Plan Document had identified therole of voluntary agencies in the implementation of developmental programmes as so for. To supplement the government’s efforts in offering the rural poor choices and alternatives. HIV/AIDS is one of the major social issue in 21th century .The affected person are facing lot of social and economic problems in their day today life.The NGOs are acting as the vital role in socio economic development among HIV/AIDS affected families . They
adopting unique strategies for implementing projects in grass root level . This article are focusing on the role of
NGOs and their impact among HIV/AIDS affected families in Kanyakumari District
