Abstract

Antioxidants are compounds that inhibit free radicals, which cause cellular damage and are
produced as a result of oxidative damage. Peels with total antioxidant capacity were analysed
to determine the antioxidant capacity in order to examine the fruit Psidium guajava's
synergistically antioxidant efficacy. Studies were done on both enzymatic and non-enzymatic
antioxidants, including vitamins (A, C, and E) and reduced glutathione. Enzymatic antioxidants
examined covered CAT, SOD, lipid peroxidation, and SOD. COVID-19 (Coronavirus disease
2019) is one of the devastating diseases to mankind, affected almost all the human population
around the world. This disease has been transmitted through human-to-human contact. SARSCoV-2 is the causative agent of this disease, which is a cluster of non-segmented, singlestranded and positive-sense RNA genomes of enveloped viruses. Coronavirus (HCoV) triggers
respiratory illnesses with moderate to serious effects. Though SARS-CoV-2 secretes various
proteins for its multiplication and pathogenesis, of which protease (M pro or 3CL pro) plays a
vital role in virulence. This, considered as a potential target for the development of novel drugs. In this study, we have screened the organic compounds present in ethanolic extract of Psidium
guajava with SARS-CoV-2 Mpro inhibitor, and SARS COVID-19 binding receptors. Organic
compounds 5-Hydroxy methyfurfural, 2,2 dimethyl cyclopron carboxylic acid, Thymine,
Catechol and 7-epi-cis-sesquisabinene hydrate were docked against with HLA antigen of
SARS COVID-19 with efficient binding energy. Thus, suggest that, these compounds can be
employed a potential inhibitors of SARS-CoV-2 Mpro which will help the clinical researchers
and physicians deal with the novel coronavirus.
